CINEON Docs

Introduction

Cineon is a real-time cinematic color grading tool that runs entirely in your browser — GPU-accelerated, no install required.

What is Cineon?

Cineon brings professional-grade film emulation to the web. Upload any image and apply cinematic color grades powered by a real-time GPU pipeline — film stocks, LUTs, grain, halation, and more — all running directly in your browser with no plugins or server uploads.

Key capabilities:

  • 10 curated film stock emulations — Kodak, Fuji, Ilford, CineStill, and Agfa, each with authentic grain, tone curve, and halation response
  • GPU-accelerated pipeline — WebGPU compute shaders process effects in parallel, 10–100× faster than CPU approaches
  • Non-destructive editing — stack and adjust effects in any order without touching the original image
  • ACES 1.3.1 color science — industry-standard linear workflow with full log decoding and display transforms
  • HDR input support — accepts HEIC, TIFF, and OpenEXR in addition to standard JPEG/PNG
  • Export to JPEG, PNG, TIFF 16-bit, and TIFF 32-bit at full resolution

How it works

Cineon processes your image through a multi-stage pipeline entirely on your GPU. Each effect — film stock, grain, halation, color grading — runs as a WebGPU compute shader or falls back to a WebAssembly module if the browser doesn't support WebGPU. The result is real-time feedback as you adjust any parameter.
