CINEON Docs

Quick Start

Upload an image, apply a cinematic grade, and export — in under two minutes.

1. Open the Studio

Go to cineon.app and click in Use the App (or Open Studio if you already is logged in). You get a free trial with full access to all effects.

2. Upload your image

Drag and drop any image onto the canvas, or click the upload area to browse. Cineon loads the file entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF, OpenEXR. HEIC and EXR are decoded to a float32 buffer for full HDR precision.

3. Apply a film stock

Open the Film Stocks panel on the left sidebar. Choose from 10 curated emulations across Kodak, Fuji, Ilford, CineStill, and Agfa. Click any stock to apply it instantly.

Each stock bundles a tone curve, color response matrix, grain character, and halation profile — all tunable individually from the Effects panel.

4. Adjust the effect stack

Use the Cinematic Palette (left panel) to add, reorder, and fine-tune effects. Click any effect layer to open its controls in the Properties panel on the right.

A few starting points:

  • Film Grain — ISO, format (35mm/medium/large), roughness, chroma, zonal density
  • Halation — radius, amplify, hue, limiter
  • Color Grading — lift/gamma/gain RGB wheels, temperature, contrast
  • HSL Engine — per-range hue/sat/lum across 8 color ranges
  • ACES — set your input gamut if shooting log (LogC3, SLog3, CLog2, RED)

Press Cmd K to open the Effect Command Palette and search for any effect by name.

5. Export

Click Export in the top-right corner. Choose your format and quality preset:

  • JPEG — for sharing and web
  • PNG — lossless with transparency
  • TIFF 16-bit — for Photoshop / Affinity
  • TIFF 32-bit — for DaVinci Resolve / Nuke

The exported file is your original resolution with all grades baked in. FSR (if enabled in the Properties panel) is bypassed — exports always run the full-resolution pipeline.
